9. Back swan on feet

Base lies on back with legs bent and feet raised.  Top stands with back toward base and with feet near buttocks of base.  Placement of base’s feet: approximately centered on buttocks of top.  Hold hands.  Base should bend legs only the minimum amount to allow lifting top to balanced position.  (Figure 9A)

After balancing top person, base extends legs as straight as possible.  Hands are released and top maintains body somewhat arched downwards, with legs straight and together, toes pointed, head tilted back, arms straight and perpendicular to body, and arms horizontal or slightly below horizontal.  (Figure 9B)

Stunt ends with base lowering straight legs and returning top to feet on ground.   When learning stunt, hands could be grasped again before returning top to ground.

Spotting:  Spotter stands to one side and holds upper arm of top with two hands.

Variation 1:  In ending the stunt, as soon as top’s feet touch the ground, he/she performs a forward roll.

Variation 2:  After coming to a stand at the end of the stunt, top and base grasp hands and top pulls base to his/her feet.
