3. Front thigh stand

Top and base stand facing each other.  Hold left wrists (hands overlapping and gripping other person’s wrist).  Top grasps base’s left shoulder with right hand.  Base grasps top’s left arm below or above elbow with right hand.  (Indications of left and right can be reversed throughout.)  (Figure 3A)

Base bends legs until thighs are as nearly horizontal as possible.  Top steps up with left foot on base’s right thigh and right foot on base’s left thigh, placing heels just above base’s knees.  (Figure 3B)

Top’s feet can be parallel with base’s thighs or slightly turned out.  When stepping up onto thighs, top should try to keep his/her body close to base (not leaning backwards;  this is approximately the feeling of climbing some high steps).  Top straightens legs.  Upon command from base, top releases right hand and begins to straighten left arm, leaning backwards with straight body and extending free arm backwards and upwards.  (Figure 3C)

Simultaneously, base straightens legs and leans backwards, extending free arm backwards and upwards, and maintaining balance.  (Figure 3D)

Stunt ends with top bending legs and jumping down to starting position.

Spotting:  Spotter stands on top’s left side and holds upper arm of top with two hands.

Lead-up:  Base sits in straight chair.  Follow procedure as outlined above to achieve final position.  Spotter can remove chair after base lifts off.

Variation 1 :  Base can begin in crab position with right hand on floor.  As top leans backwards from stand on thighs, base is pulled to standing position.

Variation 2:  In ending the stunt, as soon as top’s feet touch the ground, he/she performs a back roll.  Simultaneously, base can perform a back roll.
